Born in Austin in 1978, Rodriguez began learning to play the violin at five years old. By seventeen she had been awarded a scholarship to study at the Oberlin Conservatory, where she was mentored by Almita Vamos.
Rodriguez went on to train in the fiddle at the Berklee College of Music with famed fiddler Matt Glaser. In 2001, shortly after graduation, she gave a celebrated performance at the South by Southwest Festival alongside star artists Carlos Santana, Los Lobos and Linda Rondstadt. Her performance was so strong that she was invited by Chip Taylor to record the duet album Let’s Leave This Town in 2002.
In 2006 Rodriguez released her debut solo album Seven Angels on a Bicycle, and has since collaborated with a slew of notable acts including John Mayer, Los Lonely Boys and Patty Griffin. She has been widely praised by critics for her soulful playing style and highly technical, sophisticated musicianship.
