The Mexican singer Carla Morrison was born in Baja, California in 1986 to Mexican parents. She moved to Arizona at the age of 17 to study music at Mesa Community College but failed to complete her studies and began to forge a musical career performing under the stage name Babaluca. The Babaluca project enjoyed moderate success and persuaded Morrison that a career in music could be a viable move. Encouraged by this, Morrison returned to Mexico with a view to launching a solo career.
She has since established herself as one of the most exciting artists of Mexican origin to emerge in recent years and has been nominated for eight Latin Grammy Awards, winning three of them. Her standout work is undoubtedly the 2012 album 'Déjenme Llorar' which went on to win Grammys for Best Alternative Music Album as well as Best Alternative Song for the title track. The singer has now released seven studio albums, the most recent of which is her 2017 work 'Amor Supremo Desnudo'.
