Camilo originally got into music because his family did not own a radio, all they had was a record player. He grew up listening to records that they had in the house, like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Mercedes Sosa, and Charly Garcia. From then on, Camilo knew that he wanted to make music. 

He debuted in 2008, after winning Factor XS in 2007. From there, he made appearances on Colombian telenovelas and a children’s program. In 2010, he released a mixtape and shortly after its release, decided to take a break from his solo career. He began writing music for other artists, such as Becky G, Anitta, and Sebastian Yatra. He relaunched his solo career a little while later and with it, he changed his image. Originally, he was a clean cut looking guy but swore off that look in favor of a more bohemian style, including a handlebar mustache.
