They produce tropical synth-pop music, which brings together various elements from styles like calypso, reggaeton and salsa. Both Del Valle and Berrios were born in Puerto Rico but met in New York City in 2011 while they were living there. Upon realizing their shared musical heritage, the two created Buscabulla and performed in and around Brooklyn for six years before moving back to Puerto Rico.
The duo released their debut EP Buscabulla in 2014 through the Maison Kitsune label, with assistance from famed British producer Dev Hynes. The band rose to national attention three years later with their sophomore release EP II, collaborating with Helado Negro. Their experimental yet catchy sound saw them earn a spot in Rolling Stone's 2017 Ten New Artists You Need To Know list.
Buscabulla's first full-length album, Regresa, explored the experience of returning to a ruined Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
