Jam’n 107.5 is a commercial FM radio station based in Banks, Oregon that serves the Portland metropolitan area. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc., and airs a rhythmic contemporary format, playing a mix of EDM, pop, hip hop and upbeat R&B hits. Currently, the station is known as Portland’s new #1 for hip hop, hit music and throwbacks.
Jam’n 107.5 got its start in 1991 as a contemporary Christian station, and wouldn’t become the legendary station that raffles Boo Bomb tickets until the mid-2000s. In the beginning, the station focused on their goal of playing Christian hit music 24/7 as Spirit FM 107.5. Yet, in 1996 the station was bought by American Radio Systems who then was bought out and merged with CBS Radio. Overnight Spirit FM 107.5 became The Beat at 107 dot 5, a modern adult contemporary station.
The new millennial brought more change to the station. 107.5 shifted from adult contemporary to 1980s rock hits, then to rhythmic hot adult contemporary, becoming MOViN 107.5 in 2006. Two years later the station would change again and become Portland’s rhythmic contemporary outlet. Thus Jam’n 107.5 was born.
Boo Bomb is one of the radio station’s largest events. Drawing crowds of thousands, the Halloween-centered concert has featured artists like Ashanti, Fabolous, Fat Joe, E-40, Too Short, Ja Rule and The Game.
