Basel Chamber Orchestra Concert Tickets
Do not pass up your chance to get Basel Chamber Orchestra tickets. The chamber orchestra is named for the city in which it was founded in 1984, Basel, Switzerland. Widely regarded as one of the best classical music orchestras in the world, the group of musicians often uses concertmasters, such as Baptiste Lopez, Daniel Bard and Julia Schroder, instead of a conductor and draws from both contemporary classical music and early music. In addition to playing concerts in their hometown, the Basal Chamber Orchestra (Kammerorchester Basel) plays at major concert halls and music festivals around the globe.
Originally known as Serenata Basal, the orchestra had Johannes Schlafii as its conductor until 1999. That was the last year it was known by its original name, and the last time there was a regular conductor. Basel Chamber Orchestra tickets give you access to an enchanting evening of classical music performed by some of the best musicians on the planet.
The ensemble has worked with a number of soloists (including Maria Joao Pires, Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Erwin Schrott) and guest conductors (such as Khatia Buniatishvilli, Rene Jacobs and Trevor Pinnock). New work is commissioned by the orchestra on a yearly basis. The orchestra performed the opera Lotario by Handel at the Handel Festival Halle and in Basel in 2004.
Led by concertmaster Julia Schroder in 2011, the ensemble accompanied Andreas School in recordings of some cantatas by Bach, including Ich habe genug and Gott soll allein mein Herze haben. The orchestra won the ECHO Klassick award for “Ensemble of the Year” in 2008, and in 2012, guest conductor Julia Schroder won “Opera Recording of the Year” for Nuria Rial’s rendition of Georg Phillipp Telemann’s arias. In 2019, they were the first orchestra from Switzerland to receive a Swiss Music Award.
