Cox is the Artistic and Executive Director of the company and has led the dancers in over one hundred ballets arranged by over fifty choreographers, which is an accomplishment few can claim. Her dance team’s performances have made a name for Philadelphia in the contemporary ballet world. Dance fans come from around the world to see one of her shows. The dance troupe performs for audiences at home in the Wilma Theater, as well as nationwide at venues such as the New York City Center and The Joyce Theater. They also perform at festivals including the Belgrade Festival, Vail Dance Festival and Laguna Dance Festival. With BalletX tickets, you can experience the magic in person.
BalletX gives back to the community through Dance eXchange, which is an in-school dance education program that has benefited over 2,000 students in the Philadelphia Public School system. The ballet company also offers open rehearsals and feedback from famous choreographers. In 2018, the company opened the Center for World Premiere Choreography, a 5,000 square foot facility that houses its studio and headquarters. They began offering weekend and evening dance classes that everyone in the community, regardless of age or dance experience, could attend and learn ballet, hip-hop and contemporary dance.
In 2020, BalletX Beyond, the company’s online streaming platform, features the work of choreographers from across the globe. Because of their extensive contribution, the company has been funded by grants from many sources, including the Jerome Robbins New Essential Works (NEW) Program, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
