Anna Bolena Opera Tickets

Witness the tragedy of Anne Boleyn’s reign with Anna Bolena tickets.  Anna Bolena is a tragic opera written by Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti about the life of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII. The opera premiered in 1830 in Milan, Italy, and was an immediate hit. After its debut, Anna Bolena quickly went on to be performed in London and later on in New Orleans and New York. While not yet a standard among operas, Anna Bolena is increasingly being performed in modern times.

The opera's subject, Anne Boleyn, was Queen of England and second wife to King Henry VIII between 1533 and 1536. After their marriage in 1533, Anne gave birth to a daughter; the future Queen Elizabeth I. Henry was disappointed at having a daughter rather than a son, though he claimed to love Elizabeth. After Anne's three miscarriages, the King decided he was done with her and looked to end their marriage. He settled on having Anne tried and convicted of treason, and she was beheaded on May 19, 1536. See the tragic story of this English Queen for yourself with Anna Bolena tickets.

Gaetano Donizetti is known for almost 70 operas and is often put on the same level of fame as Bellini and Rossini. He wrote his first one-act opera, II Pigmalione, at 19 years old, though it was never performed in his lifetime. His first notable success came in 1822 with Zoraida di Granata, and shortly after that, in 1830, Anna Bolena. Although Donizetti had had success with other works, Anna Bolena shifted his focus away from strictly comedic operas and also gave him the respected title of Maestro.

What are the best seats to see Anna Bolena live?

Opera seating choices rely on both financial capabilities and personal viewing preferences. Audience members should choose mid-to-front rows in the center orchestra for the ideal sound and view combination but those who want a grand panoramic perspective should opt for seats in the front mezzanine or balcony. People should choose seats in the middle orchestra or mezzanine for the best acoustic experience because opera houses have sound systems that transmit sound efficiently to these areas. The rear orchestra and balcony sections offer affordable seating choices at the expense of slightly reduced sound quality.
