After perfecting her skill for several years, Cheng eventually made her recital debut at Alice Tully Hall in New York City. Just one year later, she was the third prize recipient at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition. Since then, she’s won dozens of other awards, including first prize at the Montreal International Music Competition in 1988 and a Medal of Excellence at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
