On his journey to self-discovery, Zack falls for strong-willed local factory girl Paula Pokrifki. When his close friend and fellow candidate is struck with tragedy, Zack understands the significance of love and friendship and finds the courage to be himself in order to win the heart of the woman he loves. The film version starred Richard Gere and Debra Winger. The musical is choreographed by Patricia Wilcox, with music supervision/arrangements by Dan Lipton and additional orchestral arrangements by George Dyer. It made its world premiere on May 18, 2012, at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney, Australia.
