Lucid started singing at the age of five and would post her song covers on YouTube. After teaching herself the piano, guitar, and ukulele, she dropped out of high school and moved to Los Angeles, CA. Her debut EP, Dreaming Lucid, dropped in 2018 and was followed up with another, MI Historia, the same year. The song “Listen” from the EP was featured alongside tracks from Cairo, Princess Nokia, Jaden Smith, and other artists on the Skate Kitchen film soundtrack. Her debut album Garden of Lucid in 2020. She’s known for mixing Spanish and English over her pop-indie vocals. Pink Floyd, Alice Phoebe Lou, Willow Smith, and Kali Uchis are Lucid’s influences, apparent on singles “A letter to my younger self” and “Story to Tell” which feature lush beats and brutally honest lyrics. Her work has captured the attention of i-D Magazine, PitchFork, Complex, and others. Outside of her musical life, she is a proud immigration advocate. Her own father was deported when Lucid was just 8. The 2020 documentary Llegaron Las Flores captures the experience of separation and the eventual reuniting with her father ten years later.
