Cameron’s solo debut, Jumping the Shark, was released on his website for free in 2013. He then was heard by the indie rock duo Foxygen at a concert in Paris, which led to him performing on the road with Marc DeMarco, Kevin Morby, Angel Olsen and the Unknown Mortal Orchestra. The record label Secretly Canadian rereleased Jumping the Shark to a wider audience in 2016. The concept of the album was adopting the persona of a failed musician, exploring themes of ambition warring with self-doubt and tragedy.
