Born in Saint Petersburg in 1973 to a musical family, Igudesman began learning to play the violin as a child. At only twelve years old, he began studying at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey, England, then as a young man continued training at the Vienna Conservatory under Boris Kuschnir. He would rise to fame in the years that followed for his comedic collaborations with Hyung-ki Joo, who he met through his classes in Surrey.

Igudesman is the founder of the Trilogy classical string trio, with whom he has performed on the international stage. He also created the Violins of the World project in which he performs duets with world-class violinists such as Julian Rachlin, Janine Jansen and Pavel Vernikov, among others.
