Enjoy a film series that explores the African American experience with African American Cinema tickets. The Black Academy of Arts and Letters has created a lineup of films to explore the Black experience in both color and black and white. Along with the movie presentation, there will be a panel session with the filmmakers after the screening is done.
Some of the movies that will be presented include Greenwood: 13 Hours, a short by Chyna Robinson, about a veteran and his son trying to protect their home during the infamous attack on the “Black Wall Street” in 1921 Tulsa, Okla.
Another short that can be shown is Red, a film by Channing Godfrey Peoples. The plot concerns an American woman in Texas, known as Red because of her hair and her fiery attitude. The loss of her grandmother, Mother Mabel, brings a mourning Red to come back to her home only to find that her paramour has left her, crushing her even more. During the course of the funeral, Red must come to terms with her losses.
Feel a wide range of emotions with African American Cinema tickets. Other movie genres explored include those of the psychological thriller like with Lola Lisa, made by Chyna Robinson, which is for mature audiences. A troubled woman is haunted by the ghost from her hidden past. She makes a decision to silence the ghost forever, no matter the cost.
