This group formed when two of its members, Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki, met at the University of Westminster. The two bonded over their shared love of electronic music. They created the Anjunabeats label to release their music under various stage names in 1999. Their first mix, “Volume One,” quickly received attention from popular DJs and dance clubs and they began remixing and releasing more songs soon after.

The band released their debut album, Tri-State, in 2006. “Air for Life,” a single from the album, won Best Underground Dance Track at the 2006 Miami Winter Music Conference. Several other singles from Tri-State garnered attention as well, leading them to perform their largest show ever in 2007 to an estimated audience of one million people. Three of their songs from this time won Tune of the Year.
