However, with Sparkman's departure in 1991 and Garcia also leaving in 1993, Local H still managed to secure a record deal with Island Records in 1994 as a duo. Their official debut would take place with 1995's Ham Fisted, and although the album was met with underwhelming response, their 1996 follow-up, As Good as Dead, was an instant hit. Featuring a perfect mesh of punk, grunge, pop, psychedelic and metal, the duo firmly establishing their identity as Midwestern rock stars, as Local H tickets suddenly became an absolute must-have for rock fans everywhere.

The album would become a certified gold, carried by radio hit singles like "Bound for the Floor" and “Eddie Vedder.” Both songs were commercial and critical successes, with the former peaking at number 5 on the US Alternative Billboard Chart, and then later making the Top 40 on the Alternative and Mainstream Rock Billboard Charts. However, Daniels would soon be replaced by Brian St. Clair in 1999, with the new duo releasing four albums and four EPs during their time together. Brian St. Clair would enjoy a lucrative 14-year tenure with the band before also departing in 2013, replaced by Ryan Harding. Despite the fluctuation in cast members, Local H still always manages to find their groove, and now with frontman Scott Lucas rocking both the guitar and bass and Ryan Harding on drums, this unorthodox two-man lineup is still going strong.
