He is most known for leading urban contemporary gospel choirs such as The Family, God’s Property, One Nation Crew and many more. Franklin is a native of Fort Worth, Texas and was raised by his aunt, Gertrude after having been abandoned as a baby by his mother. Gertrude had many side hobbies that helped her raise money for Kirk’s piano lessons from an early age. Kirk began reading and writing music by ear at an early age as well.
