Monheit’s professional singing career began while she attended high school in Bohemia, NY before she continued studying voice at the Manhattan School of Music under Peter Eldridge. She released her debut album, Never Never Land, in 2000 featuring performances of a number of jazz standards including “More Than You Know” and “My Foolish Heart”. The singer recorded a number of albums across different labels, including 2004’s Taking a Chance on Love for Sony, before starting her own independent label, Emerald City Records, where she released The Songbook Sessions: Ella Fitzgerald in 2016. The singer also appeared on the title track of the 2010 film Never Let Me Go, a song written by legendary songwriter Luther Dixon.
