While selling cars, he slipped a tape into a wealthy families’ car and they like his music so much that they financed his trip to record a demo in Nashville. He later signed a contract with DECCA in 1995. Since then he has released nine studio albums including his successful Smoke Rings in the Dark in 1999. He has been called a modern-day outlaw and his rough raspy voice led the New York Times to call his music elegant and full of soul.
