Originally formed in South Bend, Indiana in 1997, Umphrey’s McGee is made up of former University of Notre Dame students. They became an in-demand party and college band who were known for their covers of other bands’ hits but eventually began to create more original work as they added new members. Today they tour extensively, record regularly and never allow themselves to be pinned down with any one musical label, working their crowd-pleasing magic with various styles, from metal to bluegrass to jazz.
