She has won 27 Grammy Awards, which makes her the top awarded female artist in Grammy history. Alison Krauss got her start in music at a young age in Champaign, Illinois. She began to enter vocal competitions at the age of eight and went on to win the Walnut Valley Festival Fiddle Championship at the age of thirteen. It was here that Alison first met the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass in America. The society would highlight Alison’s talents with performances at numerous bluegrass festivals across the country. She would go on to meet follow musicians that would become her supporting band, Union Station.
In 1987 Alison was just sixteen years old when she recorded her first studio album Too Late to Cry. Two years later she would go on to record her first group album with Union Station, Two Highways. In 1990, Alison Krauss would hit the Billboard charts and earn her first Grammy Award for her hit solo album, I’ve Got That Old Feeling. Alison Krauss tickets began to gain popularity. Alison’s success would continue to grow with the 1992 release of her second group album with Union Station, Every Time You Say Goodbye. The success of the album would lead her to win the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album. Alison would win that same award again in 1997 and 2001 with the albums So Long So Wrong and New Favorite. Alison and Union Station struck gold in 2004 when their album Lonely Runs Both Ways became gold certified.
Alison went on to collaborate with Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin for the 2007 album Raising Sand. The album hit certified platinum and won 5 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year. Alison continues to perform in venues across North America and is known for her massive impact on contemporary bluegrass music.
