With her sophomore album in the works, there is no better time to see Gabby Barrett take the stage. This American Idol alum burst onto the scene in 2019 with her multi-platinum hit “I Hope” which captured the attention of country music fans around the world.

Barrett is set to join Kane Brown’s Drunk or Dreaming tour this summer but will make a stop first at the inaugural Country Roots Festival in Kansas City, Kan. She will join fellow headliners, Trace Adkins and Chris Young on May 13 at Legends Field. The Country Roots Festival is produced by Kustom 440 and all guests must be 21 or older.

Finding Success and Love on American Idol

Barrett auditioned for the 16th season of American Idol in 2017 and advanced all the way to the Finale covering hits like Maren Morris’ “My Church,” Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” and Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance.” She finished third in her season, which was judged by Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

Barrett released her first single “I Hope” in 2019 and it reached No. 1 on the US Country Songs chart. The song is now certified seven times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. It also served as the lead single from her 2020 album, Goldmine, which featured two more platinum hits in “The Good Ones” and “Pick Me Up.” The latter was nominated for Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year at the 2023 CMT Awards.

In 2019, she married fellow American Idol contestant Cade Foehner and the pair welcomed their first child in 2021. Barrett briefly toured with Jason Aldean in 2022 before returning home and giving birth to her second child in October.

Returning to the Road

This March, Barrett took to Instagram to announce that she was back in the studio recording the highly anticipated follow-up to Goldmine. She said “3 songs down today for album number 2” in the caption but has not followed up yet with details on a release date, title or tracklist.

Barrett also joined Kane Brown’s tour and booked a handful of festivals, including Stagecoach in Indio, Calif., and the Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Fla., in addition to the Country Roots Festival.
