Undefeated Liberty will continue its quest for a perfect season in the VRBO Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1. The No. 23 Flames (13-0) will face No. 8 Oregon, marking the first time a Conference USA team has earned a prestigious New Year’s Six bowl invitation.

Liberty is one of four CUSA teams competing in bowl games this postseason. The other three are New Mexico State, Jacksonville State and Western Kentucky.

The Flames won their first-ever FBS conference championship by defeating New Mexico State in the CUSA Football Championship. They finished the regular season as the nation’s top-ranked Group of Five school. They have now earned a bowl game invitation every year since moving up to the FBS level.

How Much Do Bowl Games Cost?

Bowl game tickets typically start around $30 for seats further away from the field. If you want to be closer to the field or up in a suite, tickets can cost several hundred dollars. Ticket prices will also depend on the matchup. For example, if you want to see one of the New Year’s Six games or a CFP Semifinal, those tickets will likely be more expensive since the game is considered higher quality.

Team Profiles

Western Kentucky (7-5) is set to make its 10th bowl game appearance in 12 years when the Hilltoppers face Old Dominion in the Famous Toastery Bowl. Wide receiver Malachi Corley helped pace the WKU offense and led the CUSA with 11 touchdown receptions this year. He broke the program record for career receptions in the regular-season finale.

Jacksonville State (8-4) will face Louisiana in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. That appearance will make the Gamecocks the first team since 1997 to earn a bowl game invitation in their first FBS season. Jax State ranks fifth in the country in rushing with an average of 232.2 yards per game.

New Mexico State (10-4) earned back-to-back bowl game invitations for the first time since the 1959 and 1960 seasons. The Aggies, who recorded 10 wins for the second time in program history, will face Fresno State in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl. This is the sixth overall bowl game appearance for NM State, which boasts a 4-0-1 record in those contests.
