Hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, the 57th CMT Music Awards took place on Sunday, April 2 at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. This fan-voted event saw Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson and Kane Brown as the top 2023 CMT winners, while Shania Twain was honored with the Equal Play Award. Get more details on these CMT Award winners and nominees touring in 2023.

Jelly Roll – Breakthrough Male Video of the Year

As a first-time CMT nominee, Jelly Roll swept up the most wins at the 2023 CMT Awards. Along with Male Video of the Year and CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year, the country rap artist also received the Breakthrough Male Video of the Year, all for his hit single, “Son of A Sinner.” Make sure to catch Jelly Roll on his 44-city Backroad Baptism tour. The arena tour kicks off July 28 at the Bank Plus Amphitheater.

Lainey Wilson – Female Video of the Year

A familiar name on ‘Country Artists to Watch’ lists, Lainey Wilson received the most nominations at the 2023 CMT awards. This country singer beat out Cody Johnson, Kane Brown and Jelly Roll with nominations in four categories. “Heart Like A Truck” earned Wilson one win, while her collaborative effort with HARDY on “wait in the truck” earned her another. Also the most-nominated artist at the 2022 CMA Awards, Lainey Wilson will be on tour with acts like Luke Combs and HARDY.

Kane Brown – Video of the Year

With his wife, Katelyn Brown, Kane Brown secured Video of the Year for their “Thank God” duet. This marks the first time a husband-wife duo in CMT Award history has won in this category. The Tennessee native released his third studio album, Different Man, last September and is currently embarking on his Drunk or Dreaming tour. Joining Brown on tour is Gabby Barrett, a fellow CMT nominee, and Locash, as well as Darius Rucker and Restless Road for select dates.

Other Notable Winners

Country star Shania Twain was honored with the Equal Play Award, for her efforts in elevating “diverse and underrepresented voices in country music.” Zac Brown Band’s video for “Out in the Middle” won Group/Duo Video of the Year. While only nominated twice with no wins, Carrie Underwood remains the all-time winner with 25 CMT awards.
