Miami is one of the most beautiful cities to visit in the United States, with its nice beaches, Cuban-inspired cuisine and cultural inclusion. With hundreds of events happening throughout the year, you can use this Kaseya Center guide to plan a trip to this modern entertainment and sports complex.
Quick History of Kaseya Center
This venue opened its doors in 1999 as American Airlines Arena. It was a $213 million project that replaced the previous Miami Arena. Its name changed in 2021 to FTX Arena and for a short period of time in 2023, it was known as the moniker Miami-Dade Arena. In April 2023, Miami-based tech company Kaseya signed a 17-year naming rights deal; according to the Kaseya Center announcement, the partnership established Kaseya as the arena naming partner.
Local reporting also noted the county-approved, roughly $117.3 million, 17-year branding agreement as part of the same deal.
The NBA’s Miami Heat played their first game at the then-American Airlines Arena, two days after it opened. The center also housed the WNBA’s Miami Sol, but the team unfortunately folded in 2002. The Kaseya Center is also the home of the Premio Lo Nuestro, a Latin music award show since 2001. This entertainment complex hosts more than 80 non-basketball events annually, including concerts, sporting events, family-friendly shows and more.
