Their debut album The Foggy Dew was released only one year after the band’s formation, and the Wolfe Tones continued to release nearly an album a year through the ’60s, 70’s and ’80s. In 1974 their single “The Helicopter Song” became the fastest-selling single in Ireland’s history.
The group has written several hits with lyrics focused on the lives of prominent members of the IRA, including their songs “Joe McDonnell” and “The Protestant Men.” In 2018 the Wolfe Tones were entered into the Barrowlands Hall of Fame for their contributions to Celtic music.
