Vacationer came together in Philadelphia in 2010 after Vasoli was inspired to start an electronic project after seeing LCD Soundsystem perform at the Bonnaroo Festival. Early recordings were sent back and forth between the members, as the group was split between various locations. Many of their initial songs had a tropical sound influenced by exotica, tropicalia and indigenous Polynesian music. In 2011 Vacationer released their debut single “Trip,” which earned significant press coverage and landed the group a deal with Downtown Records.
In 2012 Vacationer released their first full-length album Gone. Gone was a runaway success, reaching within the top fifty on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. The following year the band set off on their first tour, where they performed alongside high-profile acts like Bombay Bicycle Club, The Naked and Famous and Asteroids Galaxy Tour. Vacationer again found success with their 2014 release Relief, which was a top ten hit on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers.
