The band released its self-titled debut album in 1991, which established their signature harsh, unforgiving sound with lyrics often centered around violence.
Despite a number of lineup changes in the years to come, Unsane continued to tour heavily. In 1993 they released their sophomore effort Total Destruction through Atlantic Records. Their hit “Scrape” enjoyed considerable airplay on MTV. The band’s songs have seen significant use in video games, in particular in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and True Crime: New York City.
