The band is influenced by artists such as Jerry Douglas and Bela Fleck. The band won the 2014 FreshGrass bluegrass competition and then won the Thomas Point Beach band competition in the same year. Then, in 2015, the band scored a sudden death upset in Colorado at the RockyGrass band competition.
The band’s first album, the self-titled Twisted Pines, was released in 2017 and was well received by critics and the public. NPR called the band one to watch and the Boston Globe compared the band to ensembles such as the Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek and Crooked Still. Their follow-up EP, Dreams, was released in 2018.

The band’s lineup includes fiddle player and lead vocalist Kathleen Parks from Newburgh, N.Y., along with Houston, Texas, native Dan Bui on Mandolin and Chris Satori from Concord, Massachusetts on bass. The newest band member is Anh Phung, from Chilliwack, British Columbia, on flute. Former members include guitarist Rachel Sumner and banjo player Ricky Mier. The band’s third album, Right Now, was released in 2020.
