The Canadian rock band The Watchmen was initially formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1988 with the founding members being the lead vocalist and frontman Daniel Greaves, guitarist and songwriter Joey Serlin, drummer Sammy Kohn and bassist Pete Loewen. Their debut album, McLaren Furnace Room, was released in 1992.
In 1994 Loewen was replaced by Kent Tizzard and the group released their follow-up album, In the Trees, which spawned three singles that did well on the charts, including “Boneyard Tree,” “All Uncovered” and “Lusitania.” In the Trees would end up going platinum and be their most successful album. The band released the album Brand New Day in 1996 and then followed that with Silent Radar in 1998.

After Kohn left, the band recorded their next album Slomotion using electronic drums, which spawned the single “Absolutely Anytime,” which reached the top ten in Canadian radio. Drummer Ryan Ahoff joined the band while they were touring to support the album.
The group announced they were dissolving as a band in 2003 after a farewell tour. They reunited for the first time in 2010 at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto.
