In 1992, the five members moved to Connecticut to record their first album as a band which would lead to unprecedented success. Following the release of their album 66 Hoxsey Street, The Nields began to tour throughout New England and gain an extensive following in the regional folk music scene. As they continued to tour, the group developed their sound into the mix of rock-oriented Americana which they are best known for.
In 1998, Nerissa and Katryna set out as an independent duo after the divorce of David Jones and Nerissa. Although the entire five-piece band makes the occasional appearances, The Nields now consists primarily of the two sisters who are dedicated to maintaining the sound and atmosphere of the band.
