The Meteors were formed in 1980 by Mark Robertson, Nigel Lewis and P. Paul Fenech. They quickly garnered a dedicated cult following who called themselves “the Crazies,” and their live shows became known for intense mosh pits in which fans dance, fight and push each other. Despite early bookers’ concerns that the band might be dangerous, The Meteors went on tour with high-profile punk rock acts including Anti-Nowhere League, The Damned and The Clash.
The band released their first album, The Case of The Meteors in Heaven, in 1981 through Island Records, and through the rest of the 80s and 90s continued to develop the budding psychobilly genre. Despite several lineup changes the band continues to tour widely to their enthusiastic following.
