Based out of Worcester, The Hotelier was founded in 2009 by Christian Holden, Zach Shaw, Chris Hoffman and Same Frederick while they were in high school. Read as ‘The Hotel Year,’ The Hotelier broke into the emo revival scene thanks to their second album, Home, Like Noplace Is There. The project put a focus on darker themes like toxic and abusive relationships and aspects of society, while also struggling with self-growth and transformation throughout life. The album made Alternative Press’ “12 Biggest Moments of The #EmoRevival” in 2014 and Rock Sound’s “Top 50 Albums of the Year” in 2015. The Hotelier has performed alongside acts like Title Fight and La Dispute on their co-headliner tour that same year.
While their debut EP We Are All Alone (2009) gained little traction outside of the state, the band’s first album, It Never Goes Out (2011), helped edge the rock artists into the spotlight. Following the success of Home, Like Noplace Is There (2014), their debut album was re-released under Tiny Engines record label in 2015 featuring a new album cover.
