Born in the late ‘50s in Lamentin Acajou, Martinique, Chris and Alex Francfort showed a gift for music at an early age. Following their family’s move to Paris, the pair joined Jean-Jacques Goldman’s band, The Phalansters, in 1969. They also briefly played as part of the Martinique Express group as well, with whom they made a handful of appearances on French television.
The Francforts were soon discovered by producer Daniel Vangarde, who helped the pair form their own independent band, The Gibson Brothers. In 1976 The Gibson Brothers released their debut singles “Come to America” and “Non Stop Dance,” the latter of which achieved charting success across Europe. A string of further hits in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s quickly established the duo as one of the hottest new acts in the Eurodisco genre.
