Take Me Out won a total of eight awards and eight nominations in 2003. Three of those awards won were Tony Awards, including one for Best Play. The production was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize as well. Eventually, it was adapted into a limited television series in 2021, starring Jesse Williams and directed by Scott Ellis.
