He is a member of the rock band Los Hermanos, the Big Band Orquestra Imperial and the Brazilian-American supergroup, Little Joy. His debut solo album, Cavalo, was released worldwide in 2014.
Amarante was born in Rio de Janeiro on September 6, 1976. He joined the band Los Hermanos after meeting the band members Marcelo Camelo and Rodrigo Barba while studying journalism at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. After rehearsing with them a few times, he decided to join their band.

In 2006, Amarante joined with Fabrizio Moretti, from The Strokes, and American Binki Shapiro, a singer, musician and songwriter, to form Little Joy as a trio. The group’s self-titled debut album was released in 2008. In 2015, he recorded the song “Tuyo” for the Netflix drama series Narcos. Amarante’s second album Drama was released in 2021.
