With Erik on vocals and guitar and Stephen on bass, the two soon recruited Sam Mathys on drums and Zack Cummings as a touring guitarist to create the first iteration of Remo Drive.
Although technically classified as a pop-rock band, their music was heavily influenced by the “emo revival” that was taking place in the 2010s. Inspired by the likes of heavy-weight groups like Vampire Weekend, Title Fight and The Police, Remo Drive steered towards a style that actively blends elements from a wide range of genres such as pop punk, dance punk and grunge. While also channeling the attitude of indie-rock along with the emotional expression of emo-punk, the Paulson brothers and crew were able to successfully emerge from an already muddied rock genre, making Remo Drive tickets one of the hottest in the rock scene.
They released their first collection of songs in 2014 under the title “Demos 2014,” which was followed by EPs Stay Out Longer in 2014 and Wait for the Sun in 2015. However, their true breakout moment came in 2017 with the release of Greatest Hits. The album, which was praised for its eccentric sound, powerful guitar riffs and catchy melodic vocals, propelled the band to musical prominence and began their journey to rock stardom that they enjoy today.
