In 1976, Peter Beckett became one of the founding members of Player. They debuted their self-titled album, Player, in 1977. The album became an instant hit, and their hit single from the album, "Baby Come Back," peaked at No. 1 on US charts. Between 1978 and 1981, Player released three more albums, Danger Zone (1978), Room with a View (1980) and Spies of Life (1981).
Peter Beckett tickets rose in demand after Player disbanded in 1982 and Peter began writing successful songs for other famous artists, including The Temptations, Janet Jackson, Olivia Newton-John and Kenny Rogers. In the late 1980s, Peter Beckett and Steve Kipner formed Think Out Loud. Its first album, Think Out Loud, debuted in 1988. In 1997, Think Out Loud released its second and final album, Shelf Life.
In 1989, Peter Beckett began performing with Little River Band and toured with them for eight years. In addition, Peter started to work on his solo music and released his first solo album, Beckett, in 1991.
Player reunited in 1995 to release, Lost in Reality, before launching a US tour. In 2013, the band released its sixth studio album, Too Many Reasons. That same year, Peter Becket and Ronn Moss joined the Salt Rock Tour 2013 to tour the US and Canada with artists Robbie Dupree, John Ford Coley, Firefall, Al Stewart, Christopher Cross and Gary Wright.
