Third-generation Puerto Rican pop singer Pedro Capó first started out in the mid-1990s with a Latin rock band, before releasing solo albums and taking on Broadway acting roles. He finally reached pop success in 2018 when he landed the hit single 'Calma'. Born in San Juan, his grandfather Bobby Capó was a popular ballad singer in the 1940s and 1950s and his father also played salsa and wrote songs professionally.

But when his father passed away in 1994, a 13-year-old Pedro inherited his guitar and began pursuing music seriously. He was soon out playing gigs in local bars and his band Marka Registrada went on to release the single 'Solo Pensando', which became popular locally and made the top ten of the Puerto Rican radio charts in 1998. He headed to New York shortly after to perform in the musical stage shows 'The Sweet Spot' and 'CELIA: The Life and Times of Celia Cruz' but made a return to music with a solo album 'Fuego y Amor' in 2007.

When Mexican superstar Thalía selected him to partner her on the duet 'Estoy Enamorado' which featured on her live acoustic album 'Primera Fila' (2009), Capó's career was given a boost and helped his albums 'Pedro Capó' in 2009 and 'Aquila' in 2014 to build a solid fan base in Latin America and Spain as a romantic, passionate torch singer and good-time soft rocker.

He returned again in 2017 with the album 'En Letra de Otro', but it was the dreamy, up-tempo Latin pop ballad 'Calma' that became a popular singalong anthem when it was originally released in 2018 and then a huge global hit when it was given an upbeat, sunkissed, reggaeton-fused remix by trap star Farruko. The remix notched up hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, topped the charts in 12 countries and won a Latin Grammy Award, as Capó became a massive pop star across the world.
