Oceano was founded in Cook County in 2006 and spent a number of years growing a regional following while refining its unique style. Their songs typically employ blast beats, growling vocals and sonic double bass. Oceano’s lyrics center around misanthropy and criticism of organized religion in the vein of acts like Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth and Meshuggah.
In 2009 the band released their debut album Depths through Earache Records, which made it into the top 20 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. They found the most success, however, with their follow-up album Contagion, which charted on the Top Heatseekers, Rock, Hard Rock and Indie lists. Oceano now tours widely across the US and Europe and enjoys a devoted following due to their high-energy live shows.
