The Austin-based string quartet was originally founded in 1995 by four students who met while studying at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio. Two of the founding members left the group in 1997, paving way for two new members and the lineup of viola player John Largess, cellist Joshua Gindele and violinists Daniel Ching and William Fedkenheuer.
The musicians serve as the quartet in residence at the University of Texas where they all are members of the Butler School of Music faculty. The quartet has toured all over the world, appearing at major festivals like Chamber Music Northwest and Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. They have performed live alongside some of the world’s best musicians and conductors the likes of Pinchas Zukerman, Joshua Bell and award-winning violinist Midori.
