The group has come a long way since their performance debut in front of an audience of less than 15 people. Matute, a 6-person musical group, performs from a catalog of American, UK and Mexican songs, usually done in both Spanish and English. Other band members have consisted of Ignacio “Nacho” Izeta on guitar and vocals, Pepe Sánchez on the keyboard, Tana Planter on vocals, Paco “El Oso” Morales on bass guitar and drummer Irving Regalado.
Matute financed their first LP, Ochenterizzimo, and some songs in this album include the group’s versions of some classic 1980s music such as Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” Boy George and Culture Club’s “Karma Chameleon” and Marco Antonio Solis’ “Tú Me Vuelves Loco.” Grab your Matute tickets for a fun and musical evening.
A couple of Matute’s live albums scored high in Mexico, with En Vivo!, and then En Vivo, Vol. 2 one year later. The latter album features covers including “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and a medley of “Don’t You Forget About Me,” “Beds Burning,” and “Relax.”
