Get Luna Sea tickets now to see an amazing performance live by a great entertainer. Visual kei band Luna Sea first came together in 1989. High school friends Onose Jun and Kiyonobu Inoue met former Pinnochio members Yune Sugihara and Shinya Yamada while hanging out around Tokyo. They brought in singer Ryuichi Kawamura, formerly of Slaughter, and began gigging as Lunacy. The name only lasted until 1990 when they changed it to Luna Sea, but by that time they already had a notable local following.

It was when X-Japan lead guitarist Hideto Matsumoto discovered them that their career really began picking up speed, however. They were signed to the cult label Exstacy Records and released their eponymous debut album. It failed to achieve real commercial success, but a sold-out tour in 1992 led them to a deal with Universal which in turn led to several top 10 albums through the early 1990s in the form of 'Image' (1992), 'Eden' (1993) and 'Mother' (1994).

The band took a break through 1995 but their return in `96 ushered in a run of number one albums including 'Style' (1996) and the compilation 'Singles'. After a year out in which the band pursued solo projects, they followed up with 'Shine' (1998). Their next studio album, 'Lunacy', stopped short of the top spot at number three.

Following the album, the band went their separate ways to pursue solo projects, however it didn't prove to be the end for Luna Sea. In 2007 they reunited to play the Tokyo Dome with the God Bless You ~One Night Dejavu~ concert, and in 2008 they played at the memorial show for Hideto Matsumoto. A tour followed in 2010 and in 2012 Luna Sea returned to the studio to record their first new album in 12 years, 'A Will'.

While it didn't quite match the band's late-90s success, it did chart at number three on both the Oricon and Billboard Japan charts. Likewise, the follow-up, 'Luv', reached number four when it was released in 2017. Get your Luna Sea tickets today!
