The Los Angeles Children’s Choir is a choral youth group from Los Angeles known for their performances with the LA Opera, LA Philharmonic and Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, among others. The Los Angeles Children’s Choir divides roughly 400 singers into seven performance ensembles, as well as two introductory/training ensembles. Members rehearse several times per week. Rebecca Thompson founded the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus in 1986, using the Pasadena Presbyterian Church as a rehearsal space. Over the course of a tenure of two decades, Thompson led the group to become one of the leading such ensembles in the country. The Children’s Chorus has since premiered works by world-class composers such as Esa-Pekka Salonen and Peter Ash. The group now tours internationally, and in 2008 performed at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. They have performed for several world leaders including the Emperor and Empress of Japan.
