Several years later the Irish folk group would sign with Rough Trade Records and released their next album, Between the Earth and Sky, in 2017. This would become their first album nominated for Album of the Year at the RTE Choice Music Prize Awards.
Lankum has been nominated for and has won several awards including BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Best Group and Best Original Song, for “The Granite Gaze” in 2018. In a 2019 article by The Guardian, Lankum’s music was described as “a younger, darker Pogues with more astonishing power.” That same year their third album, The Livelong Day, won the RTE Choice Music Prize for Album of the Year.
