Koffee grew up in Spanish Town, Jamaica, where she was inspired by the music of Jamaican musicians Super Cat, Protoje and Chronixx. Koffee developed her music skills while in her high school choir and began transitioning to a career in music when she released the single “Legend” which was a tribute to sprinter Usain Bolt. The single was a hit on social media and gained worldwide attention.
In 2018, Koffee met with singer Cocoa Tea at the Rebel Salute music festival. Cacao Tea had Koffee perform on stage with him and the two began to collaborate. Koffee tickets sold when she toured across the UK with Cocoa Tea and appeared on broadcasts of BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Music Introducing. Later that year Koffee signed a record deal with Columbia Records UK and released her first EP, Rapture. The EP was a massive success and led Koffee to receive the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. Koffee was only 19 when she received the Grammy, making her the youngest person in history to receive the honor and the first woman to win the category.
