A second studio album titled 'A Deathrace for Love' was released in March 2019 and gave him his first and only number one on the Billboard 200. On 8th December 2019, just a few days after his 21st birthday, police boarded a private plane on which Higgins was a passenger. As the police searched the plane for drugs, Higgins began having a seizure and was taken to hospital where he later died of a suspected overdose.
