John Adams Concert Tickets

See the celebrated composer live with John Adams tickets. John Adams is a contemporary classical composer and conductor, whose work is among the most frequently performed in the genre. He is most known for his historical operas, though Adams has also composed music for orchestras, choirs and pianists. Adams was born in 1947 in Massachusetts to a musical family. His passion for music grew out of childhood exposure to his parents’ classical, jazz and rock albums. Adams then studied music at Harvard under greats Leon Kirchner and Roger Sessions. Though trained in the modernist style, Adams broke with tradition after encountering the work of the avant-garde composer John Cage.

Adams developed his uniquely minimalist style at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. This style was first fully expressed in his 1977 piano piece “Phrygian Gates.” Adams became an active part of San Francisco’s classical music scene, where he continued to advocate for new, experimental styles. He came to national attention in 1985 with his orchestral compositions Harmonium and Harmonielehre. Adams went on to collaborate with Peter Sellers on a series of operas that have become mainstays of the genre, in particular, his 1987 piece Nixon in China. With John Adams tickets you have a chance to witness this titan composer live in concert. In 2002 Adams won the Pulitzer Prize for his piece commemorating 9/11 victims, On the Transmigration of Souls.
