Her unique sound plays off the folk-pop genre and incorporates influences of jazz and pop. She grew up just outside of Toronto and studied at Queen’s College before pursuing a career in music.
In 2005 she released her debut album Oh Heart which won the Female Artist Recording of the Year from the Music Nova Scotia Awards. In 2007 Jill Barber achieved her first win as Best Canadian Solo Artist. She has toured almost all Eastern Canada and continues to play shows throughout the country. In 2008 she released the jazz album Chances which featured full orchestral arrangements. That album led to a new level of touring for her and dramatically increased her fanbase. After the release of Chances, Jill Barber was nominated for two Juno Awards and had the title track of the album featured on the Netflix hit series Orange Is the New Black.
She finally won a Juno Award in 2017 and won Producer of the Year from the Canadian Folk Music Awards the year earlier. Her popular jazzy-pop sound has become known around the world and now you can see her perform live with your own Jill Barber tickets.
