Segev began training in classical cello when she was five, then at 16 moved to the US to continue her studies on the suggestion of famed violinist Isaac Stern. She earned degrees from both the Juilliard School and the Yale School of Music, where she was mentored by greats like Bernard Greenhouse, Aldo Parisot and Harvey Shapiro. 

Segev made her professional debut performing with the Israel Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic, where she was conducted by Zubin Mehta. In 1997 she gave a celebrated recital at Carnegie Hall, where she performed Trois Strophes sur le Nom de Sacher by Henri Dutilleux. 

Segev has won prizes at the Washington International Competition, International Paulo Cello Competition in Helsinki, and the Juilliard Concerto Competition, among others. She has released two albums through the Vox Records label, Nigun and Dance, both of which received widespread critical acclaim.
